Travertine Cleaning Filling Sealing Tumbled Tiles Loughborough

We are here in Shepshead, Loughborough LE12, cleaning travertine and resealing travertine tiles.

Our client, we will call her Lucy, chose tumbled travertine specifically for the natural holes and voids in the stone. She wanted the look to add a rustic beauty to the kitchen, hallway and w/c.

Tumbled travertine starts out its life in an exotic way:

Cleaning Tumbled Travertine Tile Floor Brassington Matlock …

Cleaning Tumbled travertine tiles, here is similar work we carried out in Brassington, near Matlock in Derbyshire.

When the tiles were installed, they looked beautiful. Following the manufacturer’s recommendation, the tiles were sealed with an impregnating sealer.

Lucy used mop, bucket and strong flash floor cleaner for cleaning travertine.  However, over time, the holes started to fill with soil, spoiling the look of the floor.

Over the years, Lucy also tried re-sealing the tiles, but this did not stop soil gathering in the holes.

As a last gasp effort, Lucy checked out our website and saw how we have transformed similar travertine floors.

We started by protecting the walls with plastic sheeting. We use powerful cleaning solutions. Splashes from cleaning travertine with these chemicals can damage delicate paintwork.

We left the cleaner on the floor for 20 minutes to start working its way into the soil.

Next we used a scrubbing machine with a medium brush to scrub the cleaner deep into the holes and reach the embedded soil.

Now we used our hot water pressurised rinse and capture equipment. This blasts hot water into the holes in the stone and sucks out all the dissolved soil.

There were ugly, dark areas on some of the tiles, where soil had migrated under the surface of the stone. This process is not designed to remove this soiling.
